Drosera brevifolia is the smallest species of sundew in North America. For scale, the twig in this video is only about 2 mm wide. Sundew species are carnivorous. The sticky substance attracts and traps small insects, and the leaves curl inward to prevent them from escaping. The plant then digests the insect by secreting enzymes, allowing it to absorb nutrients through special glands. I had to use a clip on macro lens for these photos; the tentacles are extremely small.
